| We've had some terrible jealousy issues with Billi, when we bought Merlin he wasn't too bad. Spent about 5 days hissing at him and lashing out whenever he went past but with Minnie he only took 3 days before he accepted her. However, we have since discovered that if anyone brings in a cat carrier, be it empty or filled with a kitten/cat he goes totally beserk!!! My daughter asked me if I could take her and her friend to collect a little kitten a couple of weeks back. They brought the new baby in to the kitchen while they had a cup of tea. The kitten was inside the carrier at all times, and neither Lou or I had touched it at all. Billi looked in the box, spotted this teeny little black kitten and he instantly spat, hissed and struck at the box then promptly took himself off down the garden and refused to come back in! Needless to say we had to go carry him in later that evening as it had gone almost completely dark and still he wouldn't come in. When we fetched him in he went for Merlin, then Minnie then bit Lou and tried to bite me too (got a clip for that too) since then, he prowled around the house growling, looking all the time for the interloper. I took him over a week to get around this properly, and poor Minnie and Merlin suffered as a result. He is ok with them again now, but I think now judging by his reactions we won't be adding to our family now as we had orginally planned. Sir is far too insecure and jealous for us to even consider trying as it is not fair on the others as they suffer the knock on effect so it's 3 for us and no more. Ironically both Minne and Merlin were so curious of the little kitten, they both sat next to the box trying to get their paws in, or the kitty out I hope that Buttercup does get over her jealousy of little baby Jospeh soon, she's such a sweet kitty and must surely miss her playmate. |
