Last Tuesday evening I found some blood drops on the small blanket I had put in her basket. At first I didn't think they were coming from her vagina because she was clean and the litter too.
I had noticed that her mouth smelled very bad and the she wasn't eating dry food, only the wet. I thought the blood was coming from her mouth.
Anyway I took her at the vet's.

She has FORL (Feline odontoclastic resorptive lesions - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feline_odonto...orptive_lesion) but that wasn't the worst of her problems.

During the visit, the vet could feel something in her womb, something that wasn't there when he first examined her. She was risking another miscarriage (the blood drops she was losing were a clear sign), so she was hospitalized once again and, the morning after, neutered (ovari-hysterectomy).
While she was sleeping, the vet also cleaned her mouth from tartar, removed some rotten teeth and one upper canine which was twisted and could give her problems in eating.
FIV-FELV test negative! :)

In her womb 3 fetuses, so tiny, only 10/12 days old. I was so sorry for them, but I chose Iside's life, she couldn't bear a second miscarriage ...
My vet said the ex-owner of Iside told lies ... first, Iside's age then the day of Iside's previous miscarriage.
The only thing I could know fur sure from that woman (God, I hate her!) is that Iside was born on June 23rd 2004, so she's 5 years old not 3.
The rest is only lies.

In my vet's opinion, Iside had miscarriage some days before he was given to me, and in the meantime she was allowed to mate once again. This was too soon for Iside, so she fell ill with high fever and that's why during first examination the vet couldn't see she was pregnant once again.

Thanks God, Iside is ok now and is back home.

I hope she will forget soon those terrible 5 years ... I will do everything I can to make her start a new happy life

We are really sorry to hear your sad news about Iside, this woman that lied when she sold her to you really wants a good kicking!

I think I would probably be so angry I would make an official complaint about this treatment to whoever would listen. It's no wonder she's been so ill poor thing.

Hopefully now she has you as her Mum she will recover fast and come out of her shell and be a loving pussum she certainly is very beautiful bless her

So sorry to hear of all the problems Iside has been having. The old owner needs to be held responsible for the trauma she has caused her.

She didn't sell Iside to me, I didn't give her any money. I wouldn't.
She just gave Iside to me because the cat was sick and she didn't have money to take her to the vet. When she heard Iside couldn't be a mother anymore, she let her go. The cat is useless to her now.
Same thing that happened last year with Dana, when her leg was broken.
So, I just paid my vet who -in both situations- made a damned good job and I won't stop thanking him for being there every time I need it.

The Italian Law doesn't give me any means to denounce her, the only thing I could do is give her name to the italian feline associations, but I think they will do nothing about her

The law might not do much to save kitties such as poor Iside Barbara, but word of mouth can be very damaging, no matter where you live ;)

That person should be kicked around the village square in front of the whole town, and you should be the one doing the kicking.

Better yet, put in stocks, like they did years ago, and rotten tomatos thrown at her, or.....I could go on and on.
Public humiliation is best. That way everyone knows what kind of person she is.

Thank goodness you took that poor kitty away from her. Now she can have the kind of life she should have had from the very beginning. cared for and loved as your pet, not some kitten producing "machine".

The sad thing is that this woman will just find another cat to replace her and get back on the "production line". She needs to be shut down.

If that person was here here in this country I would make sure the Humane Society knew about her. They would shut her down -really- quick. They've done it before and they will do it again.

People are becoming more and more concious of animal abuse and puppy/kitten mills. Our courts are handing out stiffer penalties in regards to animal welfare...

That woman now has 2 adult females lilac tabby (their mom is Iside) and one 8 year male (a javanese).
She had further two males (an oriental havana and a balinese), but they were old, so she gave them both away, thanks God, and I found good families for both of them.
I don't think she has the money to buy another cat for the "production line", so she will carry on with the 3 cats left.

I'm worried because, if the cats will be sick, she has no money to cure them and she won't take them to the vet. ... and frankly, I don't have any money left to take care of them (I'm not rich and Iside's well-being costed some money ... I don't regret it, but now I cannot take care of other cats, I must concentrate on my furry family).
My house is not very big (only 50 square meters) and now I have 7 cats. Let's hope I win the lottery, so I can buy a bigger house for my lovely babies

I hoped the Italian law could help me in this situation, but my vet was the first to tell me that we cannot prove anything against her.
A cat can fall from the 3rd floor (Dana) ... a cat can have a miscarriage (Iside) ... there are not enough grounds to proceed against her for abuse.
Even if I get an inspection in her house, they will find only 3 cats in a room, no cage, the room is clean, they have food, they seem healthy, so nothing will happen to her.

I just spread her name as a bad breeder, I gave her name to the feline associations, I hope that something will happen and she will stop it forever.

I'm part of a small association taking care of stray cats and it's always difficult to save them all, especially the kittens who are so fragile. It was really bad for me to know about cat abuse, especially the abuse of breed cats. It's a reality I'd rather not know about.

Last year I took care of an abused persian cat, he was really in bad conditions but we could save him and now he has a wonderful family. We couldn't save a persian female coming from the same place, she had renal disease and exhausted by too many pregnancies. The vet was forced to put her to sleep forever
Legally we couldn't do anything to the man who had them both. The only consolation is that now he stopped breeding, he has no more cats left, he's very old and has no money. I just can't think about how many cats died because of him

Well, I don't want to think about bad things anymore, I just want to enjoy Iside being here in my arms and do my best to make her happy!

Iside is so much more better off with you and I think she knows it..Just tell Iside's story to all that will listen and believe me, true cat lovers will not touch that women with a ten foot pole..I have noticed a trend especially with older people who live alone here in the states..they take in alot of strays but they don't have the money it takes to feed ,shelter or neuter/spay the result is a small apartment with a bunch of sickly malnourshed pets and sometimes a malnourished elderly person as well..They mean well, but often they fall ill themselves by being in a unsanitary enviroment..

Poor, poor Iside she has certainly been through so much trauma... I'm just SO pleased that she now has you to love and care for her 'That woman' should be thoroughly ashamed of herself (but I bet she isn't, she only see the $ signs!! ) I cannot believe that so called 'cat lovers' are allowed to get away with this sort of thing... its heartbreaking

Rescues often make the most wonderful pets. I had a beautiful seal point meezer years ago that I rescued from being an abused breeding queen. She was one of the gentlest cats I ever had the pleasure of spending thirteen years with.

Iside is indeed lucky to have you. I wish you both many wonderful years together.

What a lot poor dear Iside has been through. Let's hope it is all now in the past. She has a wonderful happy future with her new mum to look forward to.

What a sweet, sad, unsure, wanting-to-love, but not trusting face she has...she needs someone like you and also your other loved cats to prove that not all humans are heartless.

As for money...I think that if you need help, you can find it...just let all of us in this cat-loving community know...personally, I would be happy to send you some money. Also, I don't live next door, but I might be able to help in homing a cat or two, but cannot make a solid promise on that, but I would do my best, that I can promise.

On behalf of Iside, I thank you for all the love, tenderness and care you are giving her. Poor, poor, poor baby girl. Please post more pictures of her as time goes by...I'm sure we will soon see a sparkle in her eyes that she is presently hiding out of fear and sadness. I hope that soon she will be playing, chatting and purring like a very happy cat!!!
