I have said before that if there was an orphan kitten within a 3 mile radius, it would hone in on me like radar.. In fact the strangest place I ever had a baby find me was at our local Food Land parking lot..the reason why it was strange (least to me) Is that the parking lot was full to the nines, and the Little 5 week old in question picked out my big black Ford Econoline Van to show himself..In fact when I came out of the store he was on the rear back wheel on the passenger side, I heard him b4 I seen him and he made sure I heard him..I can't help but feel that someone placed him there, in hope of me taking him home as there was way too much traffic in the lot for him to be roaming around with out the risk of getting hit or hurt, and i don't think any momma cat with any good sense would actually have a litter in a parking lot.. For those of you have have rescued some of your babies, what are some of the weird places you found them??

My first husband found Deaffy inside a paper bag in a garbage dumpster. He heard the mewling when he went to throw out our trash. Imagine someone throwing out any living being as though it was garbage. siamesechat/Sad04.gif

that is horrible and that person needs to be slapped with a 2x4 siamesechat/nunu.gif How old was Deaffy?

Approximately 8 weeks. He lived with us til the age of 15 years.

Well, he had a good life with you, and that's what counts.

Hear Hear! Some people are just so callous Sue, it doesn't bear thinking about really. But when you look at the whole picture, for every one that doesn't care and will readily abandon a living creature to fend for itself...there is one such as yourselves that really do care and will take them home and give them a decent life. Sort of a YinYang thing. Well, at least this is what I believe.

I havn't actually taken a rescue home apart from Minnie, and she was homed but couldn't stay there as her owner was really ill and dying. So I can't add a story sorry girls.

a dumpster? how sad and appalling!

My dear sweet Chaussette, God rest her soul, turned up at a friend's house in 1985 and hid in the old cookpot that was on the porch to catch the drip from the AC - Meg called me and said there's a kitten on my porch and she's driving Scat Cat mad - I lived about 10 miles away but got right in the car and came over and there was this lovely fluffy ball of black fur with white feet (I searched my French dictionary to find a suitable name for her - you see I have always been a francophile!) - Funny thing was she looked like she could have been Scat Cat's baby and looked like my childhood Bootie too (that's almost like Chaussette in English) so how could I resist? So she came right home to live with Niki (tiger cat) and I. Chaussette came to France with me in 1992 and enjoyed the French life style until 1999 when she was suffering too much from her CRF. She's burried, along with Minette, in my in-laws garden siamesechat/Sad04.gif

Love the name, Carole (Chaussette)

and can you imagine this Gina - when I met my husband to be I found out that he's a sock freek (loves nice socks and cute ones too) and he just loved my kitty Chaussette when he met her too! She took to him right off as well and she was one of the shyest cats I'd ever had !
